Trusting the Law of Attraction, Spirituality, & Good Things for 2024
I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits, basking in the joy of the holiday and winter seasons. Lately, many of you have asked me to delve deeper into spirituality, so what better way to wrap up the year than by sharing my thoughts on this profound topic?
To me, spirituality is the recognition of forces in nature and the universe that lie beyond my understanding—a simple yet profound clarity that points to the existence of a higher power. This power, an energetic force surrounding and shaping me, is not confined to any religious framework. Although my journey included Catholicism and Lutheranism, I've since moved away from organized religion. Now, I work as a spiritual director, guiding clients to connect with a higher power as they perceive it. This higher power can be anything, truly anything—perhaps as tangible as the love of a pet.
As sensitive souls, we often joke about preferring pets to people, don't we? We see in them a purer form of forgiveness and unconditional love. In this way, pets themselves can be a higher power. Likewise, nature, with its winds and stars, can be a majestic higher power too.
For those of you, like me, who have endured abuse by deeply religious people, remember that it's a journey to find and embrace a spirituality that is uniquely yours. Today, I'd like to discuss a passage from my favorite book, "The Language of Letting Go" by Melody Beattie. This particular excerpt, the daily reflection for December 22nd, speaks of the ease with which good things can come into our lives if we trust and surrender to a higher power.
The passage emphasizes the importance of peace, trust, and self-listening, assuring us that what we need will naturally find its way to us. This concept resonates with me deeply, especially in a world that seems to sell an entitlement to peace and ease. We must remember that the human condition has always involved struggle; it's what we do with this struggle that defines our beauty and strength.
Pain, I believe, is one of our greatest teachers. It's essential to discern between necessary pain, like setting a broken bone, and unnecessary suffering. Erecting and upholding boundaries, for instance, can be painful but crucial for our well-being.
Reflecting on our ancestral history, we see not a tale of ease, but of perseverance through adversity. In the modern world, filled with technological marvels, it's vital to practice faith in ourselves and a higher power. As sensitive individuals, we must learn to allow life to unfold with ease, avoiding the trap of how we think things should be.
I know some of you have faced continuous hardships and it's natural to brace for more. However, adopting a state of hypervigilance is exhausting and distorts our perception of real threats. Choosing trust and peace over fear and anticipation is a brave, healing choice.
Let's re-read that December 22nd passage from Beattie's book. It's a reminder to surrender our worries and trust that the good we need will find us. As we move into the new year, I encourage you to embrace ease in mind and body, providing a sense of safety and calm to your inner child. Remember, we feel safe not when life is calm, but when we know how to navigate life's chaos calmly and safely.
In conclusion, let's cherish the journey of healing, focusing on the ease and joy it can bring, rather than fixating solely on the destination. Light and love to all, as we step into 2024, believing in good things to come. We are all emotional badasses, combining moxie with mindfulness to navigate life's challenges.
